There are direct flights from all major UK regional airports to:

Almeria;
A good choice. Flights are less frequent and the choice of airports more restricted.

Granada;
Hardly any direct flights. 
100 km (about 1,5 hour drive)

Málaga;
The most common choice. Used by charter companies and airlines providing direct flights from all major UK regional airports.
160 km (about 2,5 hour drive)

It is possible to land at a certain airport and take off from another.
A lot of the car hire companies offer the service to leave the car at the airport of a different city.
